An experienced senior business manager with a proven track record of growing chemical sciences based businesses, Gareth's passion for process excellence drives Britest forward.
Gareth joined Britest in October 2016 from AM Technology where he was COO, Director and Company Secretary for 2 years. Gareth's previous positions have ranged across marketing, sales, commercial, technical and quality roles and include PR&D Projects Director, AMRI Holywell (UK); VP Process Research & Development, Excelsyn; Sales & Marketing Manager, Peakdale Molecular; and Business Development Manager, Ultrafine. Gareth holds a PhD and BSc in Organic Chemistry from Imperial College, London and an MBA from Manchester Business School.
Gareth’s experience covers the whole of the Pharmaceutical industry including drug discovery research, process development, scale up, technology transfer and commercial manufacture. He was a Britest champion at Excelsyn and AMRI leading initiatives to fully embed the Britest approach into new process introductions as well as the continuous improvement of commercial products. He has a keen interest in the application of new technologies to improve processes including applications of industrial biotechnology and the adoption of batch-to-continuous manufacturing approaches within speciality chemicals manufacturing.
Gareth sets the strategic direction for Britest and works closely with all Britest members to identify future trends and opportunities for whole process understanding and design. He also builds networks across different technology areas, academic research institutes, industrial sectors, and geographies. Well known across the industry, Gareth frequently provides a voice for the chemical process industry through the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Knowledge Transfer Network, InnovateUK, and A-SPIRE.
